Doan Thuy Hanh

Biography

Being passionate about fine art since childhood, especially lacquer-on-wood painting, Doan Thuy Hanh had to channel her passion to oil-on-canvas, and watercolor on paper, because, in the old days, she did not have enough material to satisfy her passion for lacquer paintings. Doan Thuy Hanh never gave up her hopes until the day she graduated from Hanoi Fine Arts University at 24 years old. Since then, she made her dream in art come true and her art career started from there.

Not many female artists chose lacquer as the main material because it is a physically demanding medium. Despite this, Doan Thuy Hanh wanted to explore this medium as her passion and to make a unique style, different from other artists.

Doan Thuy Hanh came to her subject in fine art because of her love for nature and children. The daily life of children in her works is vibrant, cheerful, and innocent.

Doan Thuy Hanh's paintings are a story of her life with her impressing:

“I think I am a very lucky woman with simply a happy family and one daughter and one boy. Every day, I pick up my daughters at school and unforgettable scenes come to my heart. The natural life of the children, with the pink cheeks, the angel eyes, and the “young bird–lips”, all, brought me non-stop thinking and I decided to channel this through my art.”

Numerous of Thuy Hanh's works are in private collections all over the world.
